What type of culture have Italy?


According to Lewis model the italian culture is placed between linear and multiactive categories because Italians are oriented in the activities they do in their daily routine and talk most of the time, this mean that Italians tend to be loquacious with eachother. This is related with the fact that communication is importan in the business in this country, also Italians are emotional and they usually show their emotions as something normal to others and italian people often do many activities at the same time.


What would happen if an Italian do a study abroad in Barranquilla-Colombia?

 An Italian who is spending time or living in Barranquilla may have problems with noise or with the parties that take place there since Colombia, specially Barranquilla is characterized with a high level of indulgence compared with the majority of cities in Italy. The people in Italy tend to be a little more calm than Colombians, also in Colombia they tend to be more jocular and partying, which can affect some of their habit of tranquility, but these Colombian habits could easily become familiar to them, although this would depends  if they were in another city in Colombia, in addition to this, Italians may notice that Barranquilla people are friendly and this would not be a problem because Italians are friendly too, also there is another problem related with insecurity but this may happen with foreign in general. The remainining aspects won't be conflictive due to both countries are multi-active according to Lewis, thus they would differ in few characteristics because they're different countries developed in different ways, and this is just matter of time for start addapting to Colombian habits. But in general we think that Italians would be happy in a city like Barranquilla.

  Analisys of Colombian and Italian culture through Hofstede model If we start to analize and compare Colombian a Italian culture, we could find that there are few diferences and things in common. Through Hofstede model, we can observe that our Country Colombia has a score of 67 in the dimension of Power distance, this score can be consider as intermediate, and the reason of this is that Colombians are familiarized with inequality, they believe that inequality among people are a simply fact of life, and we think that this happen because in the whole colombia's history there're l eaders who have a lot of concentrated power compared to others Colombians.
